The Introduction: Welcome to My World

What's up?  Let me introduce myself and explain what this blog is about.  I am DJ Mega-Blaster.  I'm a former club and mobile DJ, that grew tired of spinning the same Top 40s BS for drunk college kids, the latest popular hit records for uppity, "grown and sexy" crowds that only listen to microwavable "what's hot for the moment" music, and I also got sick and tired of seeing your wasted spinster Aunt doing the electric slide in the opposite direction that everyone else is going in while your dumb ass cousin comes up to me and asks if I have that new Lil' ______ or Young ______ record and if I'll play it next while my soul escapes my body during your family reunion.  Although I no longer do that anymore (but will make myself available for certain special occasions) I still love and enjoy music... so I decided instead of getting paid to spin crap I don't like for audiences that are too inebriated to care anyway, why don't I just CREATE music myself and introduce it and play it for open and like minded individuals, and other types of progressive thinking music fans that will enjoy what I create.

So I started getting into music production and creating beats... the type of stuff I'd like to hear.

I'm also a video game nerd too.

So once while getting high.... I came up with this great idea.  I thought to myself "why don't I combine my love for classic video games AND my love for music!!"  So I sampled sounds from old 8 bit games, looped 'em up, chopped 'em, rearranged them, added drums, tossed in more effects and said to myself.... THIS IS WHAT I AM GOING TO DO!  Make my own genre of music by mixing classic 8 bit video game sounds with other instruments... and see how it goes.

Then while browsing the Internet I found out that I wasn't alone with this idea.  A few other artists and musicians have entire projects with this same theme as well.  I guess great minds do think alike.

So the purpose of this blog is to promote my 8-bit Video Game inspired music as well as salute and showcase other recording acts that have done the same.

So sit back... "Press Start" and let the games begin!
